| Tips on How to Read Information for Live Traffic |
|
If you don't already, click here to open Live Traffic in another browser. There will be two (2) main sections called Inbound Traffic and Outbound Traffic and Shifts. The buttons along the top of each column ( i.e. Vessel Name, Agency Name, Job Start, Remarks, etc.) can be clicked to sort information from first to last or last to first, for instance the Job Start time could be sorted by earliest movement to latest or vice versa, also Vessel Name can be sorted A-Z or Z-A. They will likely be mutiple pages of ships and if so, there will be a page count (clickable links) with forward and back buttons like you commonly see on the web. The Inbound will have a separate navigation from the Outbound, each menu is below the respective rows. |
| Column
Headings Most are self explanatory, below are tips
on some: |
| Sea Buoy
Time: Expected arrival time for the vessel to reach tango buoy.
The vessel may or may not come ONIN from this time. When you see a "Vessel Speed" listed on the Inbound board, it means we have radio contact and that the Job Start time is most likely to be correct, if there is not a speed listed, the Sea Buoy Time and Job Start are still subject to change. |
| Job Start:
Expected time for vessel to start moving. If Job Start time and the Sea
Buoy Time are the same, the vessel is ONIN, if they are different, the vessel
is ordered to anchor. If you see a PO in the Remarks of the Outbounds
and Shifts, the vessel is ordered to move at that time, otherwise all times
are approximate |
| Remarks:
Can contain alot of important information. A slk time ( i.e. slk
1752/24 or similar ) will indicate the vessel has to make a tide movement
( slk times subject to change from prediction due to weather and sea conditions
), the time listed is the expected time the vessel will be making the turn
into the respective channel ( Manatee typically alongside 45 minutes after,
Old Port Tampa typically alongside 15 minutes after and Weedon Island typically
alongside 35 minutes after slk time). If there is something to be said about
a vessel, it will be in Remarks. On the Inbounds, once the vessel has reported past the lighthouse, you will see a LT 1400, AS 1700 or something similar, this signifies the time past lighthouse and expected alongside time at the dock. Before you see these times, you can estimate an uptown or Old Port Tampa alongside time about 4hrs from Job Start based on 12kts and Pt. Manatee jobs at 2.5 to 3hrs. You also may see vessel follows instructions that look like or similar to PO flws Chilbar which signifies the vessel is ordered to follow the one listed, or just flws Navigator/OC252 which either signifies it follows a vessel the pilots are not moving or it is not officially ordered by the agency at this time. On the Outbounds and Shifts as previously mentioned, only when you see a PO in the Remarks is the vessel ordered to move, otherwise all times are subject and likely to change. |
